Madeleine: Our Daughter's Disappearance And The Continuing Search For Her (2011) - Plot & Excerpts
I enjoyed Kate's book.I felt sorry for her for the way the authorities have made the whole situation worse and find her strength incredible.I don't believe you can condemn a person for a mistake, regardless of the enormity of it, it was still a mistake, an error of judgement. She clearly feels extremely terrible and guilty about what happened without the unhelpful finger pointing witch hunt. The only person responsible for this crime is the person who took Madeleine.Had the investigations been managed properly I believe Madeleine would have been found already but from the beginning it has all been a shambles.I am glad Kate wrote the book as it detailed the difficult struggle she's also faced in trying to do the best for her daughter since what happened, something that the newspapers don't tell you. It's also made readers aware of the problems with the legal system in these types of crimes. Before reading I was none the wiser of what would happen in these circumstances as it's not something you think will happen when you go on holiday. After reading this though I would definitely do my research about the country I was visiting. Before you think of taking your small children on vacation in a foreign country, read this book. Madeleine McCann's mother tells her story in this emotional memoir. She has a talent for telling this story, no doubt because she's had to tell it so many times. You go through the whole emotional gamut of this tragedy. According to the latest news, Scotland Yard is now involved. Let's hope they bring Madeleine home. The book itself ends around 2008.
