I loved A Girl Like You so I thought I'd give this one a read... it was a bit disappointing. There's nothing majorly bad about it all, it just wasn't as enjoyable. One of the things that did get to me was that I feel like Burgess may have gotten a bit confused about what feminism is. This didn't really trouble me in A Girl Like You, but I found issues with Sass talking about feminism at work and then slut-shaming or saying "girls need to have standards" (in regards to what they wear etc) the next page. Just a bit... off. I just think, don't add feminist theories and talks onto a character when it really doesn't suit that character. I didn't enjoy this book as much as I thought i would when reading the blurb. It was way too long and some parts really dragged on. The main character Sass got quite annoying by the middle part of the book where she kepy going on and on about the same thing and that contributed to the draggy plot. I felt that nothing much was happening, or at least nothing interesting was happening. One thing good is refreshing characterisations of Sass and her two best friends Katie and Bloomie. They were all confident and strong women and the two friends were fleshed out well too.
Really enjoyed this book. Easy read but gets you invested in characters quickly.
