This is a great series. The author keeps you hanging on when you just think you know everything that is going on. This is a great series for kids to get hooked on.Books 1-3 are a smaller books and I notice that books 4-7 are longer books. Information gets added and more challenging to figure things out. Everything definitely will keep kids to want to continue to read all the way to book 7. I read this series along with my sixth-grader and neither of us could put them down. It was a fascinating look at a totalitarian society that set population limits, resulting in third children being illegal. The main character of each book had to find strength and bravery deep inside to fight against the government/Population Police. I like that the books also prompted my child to think about how we take food for granted.
