Marty McGuire is a third grader with a project to do. She needs to find a way to save the world's environment. Her grandmother helps her by introducing the idea of building a bench for earthworms that will eat the food scraps from the school cafeteria. Marty's zeal is greater than the earthworm project can handle. The resulting mishaps are funny as Marty takes responsibility for her mistakes and for the success of her project. Good read for this summer as the 2014 theme is FIZZ, BOOM, READ - all about science This book was just as great as the first book! Marty & Annie try to help the earth by building a worm habitat for the school cafeteria. Students can then put their food scraps in the worm box, lessening the amount of trash. There are a few kinks that Marty must work through as she tries to learn all about a worm habitat, making sure not to make it "a lousy place to be!" Great book series for young readers!
