I thoroughly enjoyed Wiseman's perspective and research on the social lives and struggles of boys. I like how she answers parent and teacher questions thoughtfully and honestly. It was enlightening to read about how boys feel they must deal with the social dynamics in their lives, and how we can talk to them and get our values across without making them feel embarrassed or having them shut down. I also appreciated her realism in discussions such as how to deal with the video game culture. I believe I will use the strategies in this book to help my students, and I will keep it around for when my son needs my and Wiseman's help. I read most of it. A lot of chapters didn't apply. The author even recommended reading what is applicable. Thankfully my boys haven't had all the issues this book addresses. There was quite a bit of useful information, regarding the boys themselves and parenting style/issues. I would not say it is a "must read" for parents of boys, but it did have some good insights into the world of teenage boys.
March's Parenting by the Book title. You'll never look at boys the same again.
