Teen Infatuation Meets Mid Life Angst--Perfect Recipe for a Great ReadL.A. Witt's thoroughly delightful and insightful series of gay men who live and love each other in Seattle slows down a bit here from the first two somewhat hedonistic tomes. But that's because it reflects the personalities of two completely selfish and totally insecure main characters--who don't realize that they are, indeed, selfish and insecure. Most readers probably won't get that impression about the narrator, Dale Ramsey, who appears to be a sweet 38-year-old somewhat of a gay playboy, but his deep, 20-year conflict over reconciliation potential with his best friend from high school, Adam O'Connor, can make him appear as an indecisive little wuss at times. That says nothing about Adam, who went off to the Navy for a career that is about to come to a successful conclusion, a hot, seriously one-dimensional god who had sex with his best buddy the day before graduation and then at their 10-year reunion without so much as a by-your-leave in between--or any indication of the direction his personal life has taken. What a piece of crap you will think. Now the 20-year class reunion is upon them and even though it may seem off-the-wall and completely unlikely, they meet again and the lumps in the throats and in the pants come back to haunt both of them. The fact that Adam's history comes slightly to the fore at this time is just the tip of the iceberg. The rest of the tale, told from Dale's increasingly panicked and self-deprecating point-of-view, is filled with beautiful moments and some exceptionally wonderful writing--and some very vivid sex. This one has so much under wraps until nearly completed that you may be wondering if one of them is going to give up and go home pouting. I'm not telling. But I already have started on the fourth book of this series, and that means I have no problem closing the distances between Ms. Witt's wonderful works. For me reading books in a series that focus on a different couple each book is a struggle. In Rhett & Ethans book I immediately connected with Kieran because he was soo much apart of that book .. I almost didn't read this book because I didn't feel I connected with Dale at all in either of the first two books .. & I even read a book in between but somethin brought me back & I am soo glad it did!! I LOVED Dale & Adam!! This has been my favorite book of the series!! L.A. Witt really did a number on my heartstrings with this book!! I don't always leave reviews soo when I do you know I loved the book!! 5+ stars on this one!!
What do You think about Meet Me In The Middle (2013)?
Seriously, she doesn't write a book I don't love!!!! Really hope there is more to this series.
