I stumbled across this book out of the blue and wasn't sure if I would like it. I had never heard of Jessie Evans before and after reading the synopsis, I decided I would take a chance on it. I'm certainly glad that I did! This book was great! The main theme of the story is that Naomi and Jake were deeply involved involved in high school and Naomi got spooked. She realized that if she and Jake continued on the track they were on, she would never get to fulfill her dreams, so she took off and became the next very successful "Rachel Ray". After a tragedy occurs, she decides that life is too short and she goes home to her brother and sister (who each have their own issues). While she is there, she decides she wants to try to patch things up with Jake, at least to the point where they can be civil in public to each other.Jake was heartbroken when Naomi took off and left him a "Dear John" letter. After many years, he gets married only to have his own tragedy when his wife of 3 years get killed in an accident 2 years before Naomi comes home. Needless to say, he is wary and not trusting of Naomi and really doesn't want to give her the time of day.Jessie Evans, the author, weaves this tale through each of their pain and growth. During this tale, she also introduces you to other characters who will be in later books, but you don't have to read them together. They all can stand alone. (I really appreciate that!) This was the first book by Ms. Evans that I have read, but I guarantee that it will not be the last. If you enjoy Brenda Novak's "Whiskey Creek" Series, or Susan Mallery's "Fool's Gold" Series, you will enjoy Jessie Evans "Fire and Icing" Series. Give it a try! I quite liked this book but for me it needed to be a little longer to the story chance to develop. The story was good but everything seemed too rushed, the main characters reunited a little too quickly for my taste.Naomi returns back to her hometown after 15 years away, her relationship failed and a personal tragedy put life in perspective. Determined to rekindle her romance with Jake, her only love Naomi bids on him in an auction to force him to spend time with her. Will they be able to put the past behind them and pick up where they left off so many years earlier?
What do You think about Melt With You (2013)?
I just didn't fall in love with the characters...

My first book by this author. A bit too light.
