"Nicholas, yemin ederim ölürsen seni kendim vururum." - I have some very specific likes and dislikes in the historical romances I read, and this one had a lot of my dislikes in it. However, somehow it worked for me. I could hardly stop reading it.Nicholas, the hero is a jerk most of the way through. He's out to get revenge (by seducing the daughter of a rake who seduced his sister) and if he has to seduce the gorgon of a companion first, he's game. The gorgon turns out to be a seductress in disguise, and for most of the story, he concentrates on her, almost forgetting about his original prey. And he's really, really forceful. Antonia (the gorgon) says no over and over and he pays no attention, insisting that she doesn't mean it. This is a frequent scenario for Nicholas, and, as you might imagine, it's one of the BIG no-no's on my list. But something always seems to prevent him from raping her, like when she hits him with a fireplace poker. But at other times, he stops himself, and doesn't understand why. He knows he's a heartless rake and has no intention of becoming anything else. But he does change, albeit very slowly. And he does something almost unforgivable in the end. And yet, I forgave him. Could it be that I'm no different from all the other females who secretly yearn for the bad boys?Antonia is a character who breaks some of my rules too. She's no virgin. She fell for a narcissistic jerk ten years ago and has spent all that time paying for it. She knows better than to allow herself to be seduced by the ton's worst rake, but somehow she wants him anyway. Now, normally I would be screaming at her to run far away in the other direction, but for some reason, I did not. These two were just made for each other. I can't explain it any other way. He saw through her spinsterish disguise and knew she deserved better, even before he knew her true background. She saw through his own villainish disguise and set about proving that he had a good man inside him. This story breaks so many rules, it's not funny. But it works. I loved it. Go figure.
What do You think about Midnight's Wild Passion (2011)?
It wasn't as heated than I thought it would be. Very straight forward conflict

Great premise. It doesn't quite live up to it, but I still like Campbell.
