What A Duke Dares (Mills & Boon M&B) (2014) - Plot & Excerpts
Pathetic, self-pitying martyr, and to add insult, the type of woman who thinks she knows better than everyone else, is completely blind to the hero showing her that he loves her because goddamn it he never says it and she LOOOOOVES him so unbelievably much. That's the main romance. The secondary romance was also boring and similarly one-note. Listened through because the narrator made me laugh and I couldn't find another audiobook for the time.Audio: The narrator was good. Well, where the men were concerned. And, Cam's bedroom voice certainly raised my eyebrows. The women sounded ridiculous, which..well, they were. Would listen to him again, although the pace was pretty slow, together with slow pace of the writing...I tuned out quite a bit. I've read a few of Anna Campbell's books - and this is probably the weakest I've read so far. In theory the story was a good one - but Cam seemed to have so much more life when he was helping Jonas & Richard. In this book he was just dull and Penelope was a bit of a cliché really. The added story of Henry and Sophie was just nonsense. I would have preferred more about Jonas & Richard and their wives than that.If you haven't read the second book you wouldn't understand the Leath storyline - it wouldn't be clear what happened.Hoping the next book is better.
