Mistborn Trilogy Boxed Set (2009) - Plot & Excerpts
More a 3.5 rating but my issue isn't with the quality of the writing as it is good. The world Sanderson has created is unique and memorable. My issue is that over the years as life slaps you around I have become more cynical and I strongly believe the world exists in greys whereas in the main I found the series very black and white. It's more high fantasy than than black fantasy which was a turnoff for me. Good books and well written but too vanilla for my taste. I LOVED this series. Each book got better, which isn't very common in series. Excellent, richly drawn characters that really grow over the course of the story. The third was like a wonderful puzzle, pieces coming together and things making sense. So many wonderful twists that make perfect sense in hindsight, rather than surprises just thrown in there for effect. I read them too fast - I know there is more there to understand, but sometimes Sanderson summarized a touch too much for my taste in the last book especially. By that point, I feel like it's the readers' fault if they don't remember what happened in book 1. There are a few more adult issues addresses in the series and plenty of violence, but not inappropriate for teenage readers.
What do You think about Mistborn Trilogy Boxed Set (2009)?
I loved this book more than I can express.
