Mob Daughter: The Mafia, Sammy "The Bull" Gravano, And Me! (2012) - Plot & Excerpts

This is not about mob wives the tv series but is about growing up with a mafia underboss for a father. Sam's dad is the fearsome infamous Mafioso Sammy The Bull Gravano who amongst other things has arranged for people to be killed and has even killed himself. This is how Sammy finds out about the dark side to hero father and how she coped when she was19 he went to prison and became a rat for the government against his old boss John Gotti . This is a real good read as Sam tells what's it's like to be shunned by all the people who you thought loved, respected and cared about you. I have to say that I found this book to be terribly disappointing.I wasn't expecting much as I had watched the first two seasons of Mob Wives prior to reading the book. Although I really enjoy the show...I find all the drama amusing, I could tell from the very first episode that the book was being promoted via Mob Wives. The book is supposed to be the story of Karen Gravano, daughter of an infamous mobster, and her personal decision to get away from the "mob" lifestyle. That was what her spoilers in the hit show Mob Wives suggested anyway.Gravano's behavior and thuggish personality as she presents herself in the television show tells quite a different story, and so does her book. This is not the story of a woman who is trying to break any kind of cycle, this is the story of someone who relishes the mob lifestyle. It is obvious that the first two seasons of "Mob Wives" were used to promote "Mob Daughter." As the hit television series developed an impressive following, the potential readership for this poorly written account of Gravano's life blossomed. It was a hit due to a brilliant marketing strategy. In addition to being poorly written, the number of typos and grammatical errors are alarming. It would seem that the hiring of a good editor would have been a wise investment and I was a bit surprised. Throughout the first seasons of the show, Gravano announced repeatedly that the publisher was predicting a best seller...I have to ask, if you believed that the book would be successful, why would you produce second rate work ?The cover is atrocious to say the least. This is a photo of a woman who is proud to live the criminal lifestyle.
