This is a picture book with seven chapters including: 1) A brief historical overview on moms 2) Daily care and maintenance 3) Grooming 4) Outdoor use 5) Troubleshooting 6) Reset 7) Final noteI was hoping when I began to read this book that it would truly give children some valid advice on the care of moms. Instead this book degrades mothers by showing how they are always sloppy, falling apart, dirty, erratic and desperate. The humor used to portray these things is more appropriate for middle school age and above. This book is advertized for ages 4-8. I don't know how a four year old is supposed to get anything from this book. I didn't even understand the chapter on Outdoor use other than moms are supposed to do all of the heavy lifting.Basically the morals I took away from this book are: 1) If there are messes, hide them 2) Help your mom get more exercise by resisting more 3) Moms are often equal to animals 4) Moms should do all of the work 5) When your mom finally goes into complete shut down, obey for a little while until she resets 6) If that fails, make fun of her.The illustrations and layout are sloppy making the story hard to follow most of the time. This book had a potentially good subject matter, but the execution was a let down. I would not recommend this book to children of any elementary school age. Simply hilarious. Perfect picture book for children but especially for moms. The illustrations and commentary is so funny your stomach will hurt and you will cry (the good but ugly cry). I like to think I'm a "reasonably alert and attentive mom" but my daughters say I'm really a "pleasant yet fried around the edges mom"...either way I'm a SNEW (need Sleep, Nutrition a must, Exercise not so much and Water drinking) mom that has eyes in the back of my head. The instructions for the kids on how to work with moms that are under stress are incredibly funny. If I had Oprah status and money, I would purchase this book for every mom, Godmother, auntie, and teacher I know.
What do You think about M.O.M. (Mom Operating Manual) (2011)?
This is a hilarious view of motherhood! I need to go and buy myself a copy!

Very funny picture book, but the humor is more for moms than kids.
