Narrated by Adam Grupper and Michelle O. MedlinRecorded Books, 2014Grupper does a fabulous job as J.J. Tully, retired search and rescue dog, and Medlin is hilarious as the chickens and, especially, the squirrel. The chickens know their shapes, but squirrel certainly does not! The story is silly in a way that will appeal to beginning readers, who will feel superior to squirrel. Great pacing and inflection on the part of both narrators brings out the humor. After reading the first 2 titles in The Trouble with Chickens series I've been eagerly anticipating the next. I wasn't a bit disappointed. The Chicken Squad: the First Misadventure is real a hoot! This very funny and easiest to read 3rd book in the series has the 4 chicks and their guard dog J.J. Tully on a mission to save their mother Moosh and always scared Tail the squirrel from a mysterious dark shape.
The chickens from Cronin's JJ Tully books are back in their own adventure. Hilarious and fun.
