Dark clouds rolled across the sun, promising an early spring storm and cooling the air. He shivered and turned to go back inside, only to see Laurie heading his way, her blond hair whipping around her face in the sudden breeze. “You were out here with Ms. Fletcher, weren’t you? And now she’s gone.” A frown creased her brow. “What did you say to make her leave, Dad?” “I didn’t say anything,” he said defensively. “She was already leaving when I came out here.” “I don’t think so.” Laurie held up a purse. “She left this inside.” Trent winced.
