Mr. And Mrs. Bunny--Detectives Extraordinaire! (2014) - Plot & Excerpts
A funny, playful story where "bunnyisms" abound. This is part of its charm but also the very thing that gets a bit tiresome in places. Didn't really follow the main storyline as much as the witty exchanges between characters that face countless #bunnyproblems. The hipster vibe (fedoras, smart cars, etc) was a bit much at times but again still a very cute, fun, sweet read that I think would make for a great read aloud. Don't recommend the audio though - the reader sounded like Sarah Vowell trying to imitate a lispy bunny...unless you're into that. This is a vocabulary rich story for the late elementary set. A human child named Madeline is the only character in the book with good sense. Her parents (anti-establishment hippies), Mr. and Mrs. Bunny (detectives of a sort), the Foxes (the bad guys) and the Marmots round out the cast of characters. The whole thing is pretty whacky. There are some funny lines but I wonder if the humor is more meaningful to an adult. It would probably appeal to an off-beat kid with a huge appreciation for words.
