Nick and Maxine live in a tall apartment building in a neighborhood of tall buildings. When they notice a friendly cottage with a little yard and picket fence in the middle of all the large buildings, the siblings have to find a way inside. The little cottage reveals Mrs. Noodlekugel, a friendly old woman with a talking cat who serves tea. Soon Nick and Maxine enjoy many magical adventures with their new found friend.Mrs. Noodlekugel is perfectly leveled for a new reader. The characters appeal to young readers and the writing is simple enough for them to read on their own. The fun illustrations and larger print make the pages go quickly and create a positive reading experience for elementary readers. Mrs. Noodlekugel is perfect for readers transitioning to their first chapter books.Recommended ages—5-6 years old I loved thos cute little magical story about a mysterious neighbor in a cute house who turns out to be a whimsical babysitter with a talking cat. The children in this story visit the cute little house although they were told not to. This story seems to end abruptly, but that is fine since it is a chapter book for beginning readers who would be intimidated by hundreds of pages. The book is the first of a series that children will be thrilled to read.
whimsical story that I can't wait to share with my struggling 3rd grade readers.
