    “Can you come to the house about two? It won’t take long, but I’d just as soon have some privacy.”

    “Nothing serious,” I lied.
    Lunch rush was over by one-thirty, and I went home to let Huggles out and make tea. The fence man was hard at work, and I had to bring Huggles in because he really wanted to help. The man was semipatient with the dog but really wanted to get on with his work and get out of there.
