Summary: Sammy Jacobs is a very competitive boy, who is annoyed by his excessively scientific family. At the time, Sammy believes he is being haunted by a ghost, who keeps getting him into trouble, like making a mess of his room or accidentally tripping him at a track meet. Then, he learns that the ghost is not actually a ghost, but an invisible boy, named Brent Green. Brent claims he just wants a friend, but he messes things up all the time for Sammy. In fact, people have started to believe that he has gone insane. In the end, there is a huge surprise when the invisible boy is revealed to Sammy’s family.Commentary: The best part of the novel is the surprise at the end. Once the appearances of Brett are revealed, the main characters are shocked to find that he is human. Therefore, they clearly are not humans, which was completely unexpected.One thing the author could do to improve: Some of the sentences were worded in a confusing way.Comparison: This novel reminded me of another book, Things Not Seen by Drew Clements. In both novels, there is an invisible character who wants something from the main characters.Label: Ages 10-12
This was a great book. I really enjoyed reading this book and most goosebump books are great. R.L. Stine is a great author. This book was about a kid named Sammy who reads too many ghost books, like me lol. His bedroom window keeps opening and the room gets filled with food. This happens by a ghost named Brent who annoys Sammy and his family and best friend Roxeanne don't believe him. This was a great book. I really enjoyed reading this book and most goosebump books are great. R.L. Stine is a great author. This book was about a kid named Sammy who reads too many ghost books, like me lol. His bedroom window keeps opening and the room gets filled with food. This happens by a ghost named Brent who annoys Sammy and his family and best friend Roxeanne don't believe him. When Sammy and roxeanne go to a haunted house to do a project they get attacked by a ghost. it was Brent. Sammy still knew that his family didn't believe him so he got dads bright light and told his family to follow him to his room and he shined it everywhere. He saw brent and he was ugly. he was a bad species. sammys dad said he belonged in a zoo.
