It was a happy accident that I found this adorable little book because it fit so well with the theme I'd chosen for my Literary Looneys book club February meeting. The book is cute,it's written in a great rhyming pattern that is not really in rhythm so its easy read out loud without stumbling. In fat I didn't even realize it was rhyming till about half way through my first reading. It's about a young girl learning to ride a bike, going to school, learning new things all for the first time. And of course it had wonderful art work, which always makes a children's book that much better for me. This book was a really fun read. It was very up-to-date (mention of a mom having an iphone). The illustrations are wonderfully elaborate. THis book promotes gender neutrality (she tries on heels and plays t-ball) and trying new things (tryathlon). It discusses good and bad "firsts" such as tying shoes and getting a stomach bug. The book also promotes admirable qualities such as being "brave, true, and strong." THis book is part of a collection of books by the same author/illustrator team and each book has a different theme.
Fun and silly. Interesting illustrations. Some fussy, hyper critical little messages.

Another celebrity book, sigh. Full of wonderful illustrations and rhyming words.
