A sweet, sad story about Emily, the author's daughter.Did make me cry.Could have been much better with a bit more story between the chapters (i.e. it lurched from one incident to another without any explanation or joining narrative. It was absurdly short. But very touching and heart-wrenching.Well done to Matt Patterson for sharing his wonderful daughter's story, I just wanted to read so much more about her (hence the 3 star rating as it has the foundations for a 5 star read). Oh my, this book had me in tears from the moment Emily was taken to hospital the first time until the very end. It was a beautifully written book and it was refreshing to read such an emotional story written from a father's perspective. Matt showed the true characteristics of being a man and a father - he wanted to protect and to provide, he was the rock but was not devoid of showing his heartbreak and love. He demonstrated the vulnerability of being human, but also showed God's amazing grace that surrounds us all even when we are too angry to speak with Him or want nothing to do with Him. God's love never fails and this is a book that highlights that love.

This book really had fun playing with my tear ducts. What a powerful story of little Emily.
