"Do one thing every day that scares you." That is one of my favorite Eleanor Roosevelt quotes. Noelle Hancock took this advice to the extreme when she did one scary thing every day for a year, from asserting herself in general to getting into a shark cage (no, thank you!). It gets a little "fluffy" at times, but I love her humor and her sarcasm so that was ok for me. At other points I found it inspiring and impressive, following her along and seeing her growth after each fear was conquered. She intersperses a little Eleanor history between her exploits too, which was pretty interesting. Great read. It was a nice light-hearted book, that made you feel good inside. However I felt a lot of the fears she conquered ended a little too well. It would have been nice to see her fail at a few things, to make her more relatable. Also she went into great detail about the background of the things she did, which seemed unnecessary, especially if they had no connection to the story. But it was an easy and uplifting read.
What do You think about My Year With Eleanor (2011)?
Charming and inspirational! Writing was only so-so, however.
