This is a fine book, as long as you understand what you're getting and don't expect anything more. It's light, fun and fluffy. It is an easy read that does not make any demands on the reader other than to go with the flow and have an escapist bit of fun.I get Amanda Quick's books in audio format and listen to them on my daily subway commute. It's a great way to pass the time on transit, and the narrator of this series does a good job with accents, inflection and giving the characters real personality.I definitely like that even though this is indisputable a romance, it is still written with an actual - albeit soft and light - plot and there are challenges for the main characters to surmount. I also like that the heroines in Quick's books are always strong, spunky independant women, who CHOOSE to have men in their lives, rather than NEEDING to have them. Overall, this would be a perfect, beach, vacation or travel book. Nothing too heavy just a nice combo of a little mystery, a little romance, and a little fun. I wanted to enjoy Quick's latest book, but I couldn't. Usually, I breeze through her books, enjoying the fluff and mystery, but I had to force myself to finish this novel. Her characters had no chemistry. I felt like they were thrown together and were attracted to each other only because Quick wrote it that way. Although these types of books tend to be somewhat formulaic, this was one more so than usual. The paranormal romance has been beaten to death and I think Quick needs to find a new angle.I'm really hoping her next one is awesome, and I can enjoy it.
What do You think about Mystery Woman, The (2013)?
I think this one suffered the middle book disease. I really couldn't connect with this one.
