Nancy Clancy, Super Sleuth (2013) - Plot & Excerpts
Fancy Nancy is now in a chapter book series. This first title in a mystery series has Nancy Clancy desperate for a mystery. Her adoration (That’s a fancy word for devoted love.) for the Nancy Drew books has inspired her and her best friend, Bree, to start a Sleuth Headquarters in Nancy’s backyard. When they learn that their teacher’s special blue marble disappears, everyone in the class becomes a suspect. Their list of suspects change throughout the story, leading them from one of Nancy’s wild exaggerations to another. When Nancy finally solves the case and uncovers the culprit, it’s a bittersweet moment. With just the right amount of clues and Nancy’s definitions of crime-related vocabulary, this story will keep readers engaged. Readers will enjoy this grown-up, lively and humorous character. A great series for her fans to follow. Six year old son enjoyed having me read this to him. I thought it was a decent book too. We haven't read any fancy Nancy but you don't miss snything by not knowing any background. Lots of new vocabulary, but he quickly learned not to ask me "what's that mean?" because all of the fancy new words are defined right away - mostly in a way that doesn't interfere with the story. One thing that was occasionally hard for him to follow was keeping track of the speaker during long bits of dialog. We dove straight into another Nancy Clancy book after finishing this one.
