Naruto, Vol. 48: The Cheering Village (2010) - Plot & Excerpts
This is where the series really takes on a deeper tone. If you are old enough to remember the Cold War you'll get what Kishimoto is doing here with Nagato, Yahiko and Konan. This arc shifted my viewpoint about what happened during the Vietnam War when I was a child. (Not just intellectually sympathizing with the civilians of that country from a distance- but "getting" how it must have felt being a child in that country when it was a battleground between the "super powers"). This series takes place in a fictional world, but much like the Star Trek series (but deeper actually)the places are often symbolic of real world places. (Such as Kumo being a pretty obvious symbolic USA) Kishimoto also takes the theme of creating a better, more peaceful world seriously, it's not going to be easy, and even the wisest people Naruto knows aren't really sure how to do that. [Ch. 443-452:]The whole meet-up with Nagato and Naruto was pretty interesting. I guess it let you see the other side of war. I mean it's like when you go to war, you want to find peace and you think defeating the enemy will allow you to do that, but there's always going to be deaths on both sides and pain and it is never-ending till there's peace.When I first read the chapter, I thought Nagato was a bit too quick to believe in Naruto, but now that I read it and maybe understand it a bit more.. well, I think there's always going to be some little kid that reminds you so much of yourself in what they do and what they believe, and Nagato has found that in Naruto.. and when you get a kid that reminds you so much of yourself, you start believing that they will continue on the right path, even when you didn't. I'm happy that Nagato revived everybody... I guess Kakashi really did die, but at least he got to talk with his father and forgive him.We finally saw those people from the first arc. Wow... O_O I never imagined I would be seeing them again..So that douchebad is now the Hokage.. *shakes head*They should have let Kakashi become Hokage!And now Sauske is heading towards the village. I wish he'd give on his foolish plans..OT, but I think this is like the first time I've ever seen another race, other than Asian and Caucasian, in the manga. I think these peeps are from the Middle-East or are Black.
