This was decent, but wan't very exciting as a whole. I don't want to rave about it, or skip a meal for it, or stay up until 4 in the morning, but if someone asks me, I'll go "yeah, it was okay."What I did like was the premise. The supernatural elements are incorporated into modern society, and we see the necessary adaptions in the book. There are plenty of services required for the skills on the market, and I think if the supernatural did exist, these would be fairly common issues. Here, Price has given us creatures such as witches and the fae. Of course, there are subcategories, like grave witches, wyrd witches and the many courts.Characters...I liked Alex. Stubborn, bull-headed, courageous, self-sacrificing, sarcastic and kind are just some words to describe her. Falin, I didn't like quite as much, because he got on my nerves with his whole cryptic remarks and yelling. Death had the same problem, but her was better than Falin. Personally, I think he's better suited to Alex because he's known her longer and Alex obviously trusts him.I'm a slow-build kind of reader and I absolutely detest love triangles, so we'll see how this goes. I grabbed this only because of the number of reads. Has to be something about it, right? I mean the amount of readership and positive feedback cannot be wrong – well, it was.As characters go Eric and Isabelle left much to be desired. Eric spent most if his time recounting a dream and telling us about it, as if he was telling a story of his dream and not living the horror that was unfolding around him. Isabelle wasn’t very believable considering the timeframe of the story and the events that unfolded about her.The plot dragged as the storyline was halted time and time again with tedious explanations of the current events or Eric’s dreams. I think it stands on its own without the constant reminders, over reads and more telling.
What do You think about Nécromancienne (2012)?
This was an okay read, a little slow to get started, but overall a good start to the series.
