This book was a fun, quick read, but overall nothing life changing. As far as fairy tale stories go, this is an interesting spin. I appreciate the fact that the main characters are all the usual "damsels in distress", transformed into women able to take care of themselves. In fact, in this book, the prince is the one that needs rescuing! A very refreshing switch. The characters are perhaps the greatest strength of this book. However, they are also the greatest weakness. While the interactions are intriguing and keep the pace of the story moving, most of the characters come off as one-note tropes. There is the shy, obedient-but-with-a-backbone-when-it-matters girl, the seductive but fun-loving and intelligent temptress, and the broken yet strong warrior woman. All interesting, but more depth of character would have been greatly appreciated. All in all, the magic and world-building was fun, the characters were fun, the story was fun, and the book was quick to read. However, don't go in expecting to be overwhelmed by a deep, well-developed retake on fairy tales. Still, worth a look if you want a quick, entertaining romp. A quick little read, a pleasant mental diversion. Nothing heavy here, just a fun little romp through Walt Disney land (not quite fair: Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, and Cinderella aren't really Disney's, not at the start... ). With a twist. It took me a bit to figure out who the three main character ladies were; at first I was disappointed. This is a book selected by a book group I've recently joined up with, and I expected...more. But, as I read, I realized that this is a book that should just be enjoyed - like candy corn, or jelly beans. Not substantive, but tasty enough if you let it be.None of the characters are excellent (Talia (Sleeping Beauty) could be... but the book just isn't that kind of novel), and Danielle (Cinderella...) is actually more of an irritant than anything. Snow is interesting but not compelling.I'd dig a Talia novel that gets a bit more... gritty, emotional, and heavy. She's got some oomph.

This book managed to be adorable and badass all at once. Can't wait for the next one!

I reached page 50 something. Sadly, I just cannot get into the book right now.

A solid debut, though it takes a bit to really take off.

Great "what comes after the 'happily ever after' story."
