Neil Patrick Harris: Choose Your Own Autobiography (2014) - Plot & Excerpts
I love this book. I love NPH. I absolutely, positively love the choose-your-own-adventure autobiography idea. And yet... did I finish this book? I THINK so. Because I chose my own adventure but then found myself back at places I'd already read so just started flipping through to read what I'd missed. Did I read everything? How would I know? It's the only downfall; I'm afraid I missed some sections and I will never know unless I reread the whole thing! My last book of 2014!If you like Neil Patrick Harris, you'll like his book. (And if you don't like NPH, why would you read this? There are lots of books.) I loved Choose Your Own Adventure books as a kid, so it was fun to "be" Neil Patrick Harris and make life choices for him. This gimmick allows the reader to cut to the chase somewhat. Want to host the Emmys? Read that page. Want to know about his family life? Go to those pages. Want to know how he met Elton John? Go to that page. Want to learn a magic trick? ... You get it. (Be sure to read about his Broadway experience with Anne Heche in Proof.) I did keep my place in the book as I went and then I'd go back and read all the pages. You could also just read it all the way through. Either way, this is a clever take on a celeb memoir.
What do You think about Neil Patrick Harris: Choose Your Own Autobiography (2014)?
It turns out that being NPH is basically the most awesome life you can have.
