Cool concept, but botched ending. Also, giving a taste of the end at the beginning was not a good tactic. Showing us a bit from the end first only upped my expectations for what would happen. When nothing matching it did, that made my evaluation of the work drop considerably.The story is about a game show where contestants are given progressively harder dares in pursuit of a personally tailored grand prize. At first, the dares are individual, but in the grand prize round, they become team dares. And if anyone drops out of the team dares, everyone loses everything they've won so far. The heroine is a plain girl who does a dare basically to get back at a friend for stealing her crush. From there, she gets progressively more snared into it until the dares become a matter of life or death.Except they never get to the death part. Yes, it's realistic that at least one of the people involved would chicken out (even if chickening out is harder than it looks), but given the taste of the end at the beginning of the book, I'm expecting severe consequences.Instead, nothing. The heroine gets a hot boyfriend, her dreams are still intact and, look, a stalker note. I was kinda hoping for more than that. Consequences, nasty ones, especially given that the company behind the show violates all principles of confidentiality. But no.An interesting concept, but needs a better ending. Voilà un roman qui parlera très certainement aux jeunes ados. Le style y est facile à lire, les personnages sont des ados avec de vrais réflexions d'ados qui pour ma part m'ont plus d'une fois fait soupirer d'agacement tant leur jugement était puéril, dangereux et exagéré.Addict démontre bien les dangers de l'engouement pour un jeu au premier abord inoffensif mais qui devient vite nocif mais si tentant pour les plus jeunes.L'auteure a vraiment su rendre l'ambiance et les sentiments adolescent.Par contre, je regrette juste que l'auteure ne nous en dévoile pas plus sur le jeu; le pourquoi et le comment. Ca se termine assez abruptement je trouve et finalement on en sait pas plus. C’est frustrant !
