Ashley Montgomery, daughter of a well-known and powerful political family, was kidnapped by Somali pirates while volunteering at a refugee camp in Kenya. Brody Baxter, a former marine who was now working as a body guard, is contracted by Ashley's brother to rescue her. Brody has a bad history with the Montgomery family due to an incident that occurred 10 years prior involving Ashley, but he agrees to rescue her from the pirates and then later on her family, who tried to force her to give a press release immediately after her rescue. The duo hightail it to Brody's hometown of Bishop, Arkansas in order to hide Ashley from the press and her family until she has recovered from the physical and emotional damage caused by her kidnaping.First of all, both of the main characters are complicated. Brody most especially had a difficult early childhood that impeded his ability to effectively have relationships with other people, including his own family. For her part, Ashley wasn't just some rich princess playing at humanitarian. She did genuinely enjoy helping those in need and never once felt sorry for herself. The characters worked really well together and I enjoyed reading about how the two came together.My only gripe with this book is how dragged out some of the plot points were. It took a long time, for example, for it to be revealed to the reader what exactly happened between Ashley and Brody 10 years ago. It also took a long time for Brody's issues with his family to be clearly explained and I thought this plot line was wrapped up a bit too quickly given how long it took to reveal the problem. Brody at times also came off as too dark and brooding. I sometimes wanted to shake him so he could realize he was being an idiot.Overall though, this is a pretty good read and I would definitely recommend it for fans of contemporary romance. *I was sent a copy of this book for an honest review*This book was full of dry humour which I really liked. The books content to me followed Brody as he opened up the book got lighter and funnier. It starts very serious with Ashley being abducted by Somali pirates and Brody has so many walls he has built he is in it for the job and as soon as she is safe he is out of there. Things change as they enter Bishop and as they get closer Brody's walls start to fall as much as he tries to hold them up, as this happens the humour comes in and the book turns much more about family and what people want from life. I enjoyed the book so much I stayed up late just to finish this. Will be looking for other Boys of Bishop books in the future.

A very easy fluff read that was enjoyable. Once in a while a good romance novel is nice.
