I had a lot of hopes for this book - some were fulfilled, others not. It's an interesting paranormal fantasy medical world. The star is human but works on the paranormal ward at the hospital as a night shift nurse to pay off a debt for keeping her drug-addict brother from getting high. Some of the sex scenes and torture scene are excessive, some of the story a bit convoluted. However I loved the dragon scene but really hoped for more dragons seeing that is the image on the front cover! Will look out for more by her but will read with caution. Interested to see where her relationships with those around her go. I start many Urban Fantasies that are just borderline Romance novels with weak plots, weaker writing skills and gross sex descriptions. SO, it was a pleasure to discover a series which treats the classic supernaturals as the monsters they should be and not your friendly neighbor's with a twist, coupled with decent plot development and a funny but tough, female protagonist. The cover art of the books suck. I originally dismissed it as another obsessive/possessive romance potboiler so try to ignore the poor choice of visuals.
What do You think about Nightshifted (2012)?
Flawed, realistic (for zombies etc) characters, good story, entertaining and bittersweet.
