He was about to do something very good. The tall windows overlooking Fleet Street, though closed, let in the wild racket of hundreds of vehicles, their horses, and the shouts of city life. It was a mad melee and he loved it. The added benefit of the smell of ink coming up from the printing floor only invigorated him further. The printed word had always given him an escape from the darker aspects of life. When he couldn’t bear the pain of his own soul, he’d disappeared into books. And he’d certainly disappeared into Lady Patience’s world. My God, he’d devoured her book. He’d read it in mere hours and had thought no further before he’d found himself on his horse and heading straight back to the city with one purpose and one purpose only. He was damned well going to see to it that Lady Patience’s book was put into print. The world deserved to know her and her work. Her gift shouldn’t be shored up and hoarded. Oh no. He could only imagine the amount of people she would help with her stories.
