This book had to grow on me. After I made my peace with the food section (tough to read because her getting by/slacking state is above my current achievement state), I could stop feeling defensive and open my mind. Definitely inspired by her story of living simply and intentionally. I have NO desire to travel the world with my three kids so could not relate there, but I like to read about lives/choices different from my own. Plenty of (local, ethically sourced) food for thought here. I enjoy a good memoir. I like getting a glimpse into another' person's world. I was drawn to this book since my husband and I are also trying to embrace intentional simplicity. Though the author's writing is lovely, I didn't connect to her as much as I had hoped to, mainly because frequent travel and living internationally is very important to her, but not to me. I still enjoyed the book and would recommend it.
Some good ideas for living according to your values, but overall just incredibly pretentious.

I wanted to love this book, but... meh. It was OK. A decent, non-challenging quick read.
