You know what I hate. You write your review and BAM, it is gone. *Pulls hair out* I wrote this epic review and it is GONE! Now, I am going to have to start ALL OVER!Okay, since I am ranting, let's start this review with my mini rant about one particularly scene in the story. Rabies. *sighs* I wanted to pull my hair out over that scene too. The author had the facts all wrong and it was so frustrating. I kept telling myself, it's just a story. It will be A-Okay. And really it was. Besides that scene, I LOVED the rest of the story. It was in depth and meaningful. It wasn't all happy-go-lucky. Not everyone jumped on the 'it's okay to be gay' bandwagon. There are people like that. Sadly. This story is about instant love and everyone just flies along smoothly after you meet the one. There were barriers that needed to be broken down. Acceptances needed to happen. Not just outside people, but within themselves. Especially, our boy Monroe "Roe" Davis.Roe was outed when he was twenty. His mother found his stash and the family wasn't accepting. They were ashamed and disgusted. Thought he was broken and needed to be fixed. Finally, he ended up leaving. No one loved him for who he was. He was torn. He wanted to be accepted and loved. Appreciated. But all they saw was 'Gay'. So he ran. He wanted to be good. He refused to make friends and definitely not fall in love. It all changes when he answers to an add for a ranch called 'Nowhere', owned by Travis Loving. He has his own (tiny) apartment on the land. He is the only worker that lives on the site. Roe is a hard and dedicated worker. He is his own worst critic. He may think himself of 'unworthy' and 'unlovable' but makes up for it in his work. Roe loves being a ranch hand. He gets to work with good people and handsome boss. They have sheep and sheep is kind of his thing. He grew up on a sheep farm, so he is relayed on. Things are going great. Then one night, he travels three hours to a gay bar(he keeps to himself and doesn't announce his orientation). He sees a handsome man, approaches him. Turns out it is his boss, Travis Loving. After lots of talking, they decided to be each other's hook up. One night turns out to be the whole weekend of crazy wild, mind blowing sex. It throws them through a loop. Travis is smitten. He isn't looking for a relationship, but neither is his ranch hand, Roe. But they are very compatible. So, he proposes to Roe that they can be sex buddies. They have great sex, are into the same rough kind AND it they wouldn't need to travel to great lengths. Roe is torn. He doesn't want sex and work to be mixed... but it's kind of hard not too. Travis learns a lot about Roe as their relationship moves forward.People notice. It's hard not too. It terrifies, TERRIFIES! Roe. He wants to run. That is his thing, running when it starts to become to 'real'. But for the first time, he doesn't really want too. This story is about Roe coming to acceptance. He finds his anchor in Travis. Travis loves hard(in all ways). He doesn't expect to start to fall for Roe, but sometimes you can't help it. It just happens. He has his work cut out for him though. Roe is a loose cannon. But Travis is willing... not WANTS... no.. NEEDS Roe. Travis loves everything about him. He has tear down barrier and prove himself to Roe. Help Roe prove himself to himself. Then we have the other stuff. His family tracks Roe down and he gets letters(two). Roe's head(and emotions) are all over. But when he least expects it, he finds out he is starting to find his place in life. On Nowhere. He starts to fall in love(run run run) and gets a ferocious, tornado of a best friend. Roe has a lot to work out. Sometimes it is best to have a support team, to help him point out that he isn't just some dumb unlovable person. He is wonderful and smart. Worthy. I just loved how it all came together. Watching Roe grow as individual and then find his 'family'. Rating overviewWriting: ★★★★★Story: ★★★★★Characters: ★★★★Overall: ★★★★★ (4.66)~~~It made me giggle, it made my heart bleed and it made me think yeehaw ;) - that is a mix insuring a great time!Roe has nowhere to go - kicked out and abandoned for being gay by his religious family, insufficient education and a handful of mistakes in his past. This situation leads him to the Nowhere ranch in Nebraska and to Travis - older, handsome, dominant gay and his boss. This is their story of lust turned into love and eventually them finding a home in each other.I am new to Heidi Cullinan but this definitively won't be the last time I'm reading a book written by her. This was a feel good read, a comfort read and a book I can see myself reading again. Lovely language and lovable character - thanks Ms. Cullihan for giving me a few hours of pure enjoyment.
