I have officially decided my favorite genre of books, (would you call it a genre? A theme, perhaps) Teen angst! In the tradition of Catcher in the Rye and after reading the Perks of Being a Wallflower, I have stumbled upon this beautiful book which was recommended by my friend. I guess the difference is, the main character has a specific problem and it's not as general as the two books I have mentioned. I haven't read it's kind of a funny story but they may probably have something in common, I would compare them once I read it.The book is filled with thoughts and very quotable lines that would make you think about. Examples:"forgetting how much things hurt makes you do them again."Why I like this kinds of books is how it makes you understand what people are going through. "And just because your life isn’t as awful as someone else’s, that doesn’t mean it doesn’t suck. You can’t compare how you feel to the way other people feel. It just doesn’t work. What might look like the perfect life—or even an okay life—to you might not be so okay for the person living it."When you're a teenager, you will have teenager friends who goes through a phase where they just look at how life sucks and if you're not on the same page with them, you would probably hate them. This book would more or less give you some enlightenment on how people have their own stories. An amazing tale of Jeff, a boy who tried to commit suicide. A must read if you have suicide thoughts or if you have problems connecting to your gender. I have officially decided my favorite genre of books, (would you call it a genre? What do You think about İntihar Notlarım (2011)?
For the most part I thought the book to be fairly enjoyable, however I found the ending to be horribly unsatisfying. SPOILER AHEAD!!!!I feel as if the reason for Jeff's suicide was dumb. I know that's horrible thing for me to say, but Michael Thomas Ford could have gone in many different directions for the reason of his suicide, and trying to kill himself because he had a crush on his best friend's boyfriend was weak. I for one thought the reason for his suicide was that he was just depressed. That carries a better message for me than attempting suicide for "love".
