I read this book a few years ago and I have never regretted it. Oddly enough, I first picked it up because it had a dragon on the cover. I was at the library. Then I put it down. I already had a bunch of books to check out. Then I picked it up again. I read it, I liked it. A few weeks later I saw it in B&N. I bought it. I have read my copy over twenty times. It was my favorite book. Then I discovered there was a second one coming out. . . This is a fun take on mixing fairy takes and modern life, although, as with many urbanized fairy tales, it doesn't very well address why or how the ignorant, non-magical humans can push around the magical creatures unintentionally.Rory feels defined by her (divorced) movie star mother and movie director father, who are always in the gossip sheets. She has to move regularly as her mother goes from shoot to shoot. And then one day, she is invited to a new after school program called Ever After, where she meets Characters who are involved in Tales that they have to surmount. And then she learns that she's one of them...
