loved it. It was heartbreakingly beautiful. I felt so sorry for Lukas - he totally loved her (in a controlling sort of way I grant you - she never should have married him...)But for her to have always loved Joe and for Joe to have always loved her - it's perfect and tragic all at the same time.I love this story but I still want more- I've also read "A perfect Christmas' and I'm still left with questions - so here is my plea - please write a conclusion to this story - it's kiiling me leaving it here....! You can never plan the moment when you fall in love, but what if you fall in love at the most inconvenient time. And not to mention, the boy you fell in love with has immense problems that could burden your life. This happens to 18 year old Alice, as she is on an unwinding summer vacation in Dorset. While exploring the countryside, she could not help but create feelings for the local pub bartender, Joe. But everyone knows that summer flings never become something more than that. But was it really just a fling, or something more? When reading this entrancing book, One Perfect Summer by Paige Toon, I could not help but love the author’s use of Alice as the narrator. By doing this, Paige gives the story depth on how Alice comes off age as life takes her on a roller coaster. Paige also did a good job at creating a plot that is both clear and relatable. You cannot help but understand the hardships Alice has to overcome to move on with her life. Though some parts of the book are heart wrenching, your tears could easily slip into tears of bliss. Every time a calamitous event occurs, you can count on Paige to mend your heart with some comedy. This book is definitely a romance novel. I would recommend this to 12 year old girls and up. So girls, pick this book up and go on a bittersweet journey with Alice as her summer comes to an end.
