I don't normally review picture books on Goodreads, but this little gem has appeal for all ages. The problem here is that the alphabet book format will make it seemingly for a preschool audience, but the humor will be more appreciated by older kids who may be turned off by the ABC aspect. But adults reading this book to their young children are in for a treat. I think Oliver Jeffers has joined the ranks Mo Willems and Jon Klassen as one of the masters of the contemporary picture book. I really liked the very beginning of this book. It has a little saying that goes like this: "If words make up stories and letters make up words, then stories are made of letters. In this menagerie we have stories made of words, made for all the letters." Such a great entry into the world of the alphabet. I love how each of the stories in this book featured each letter of the alphabet as the main narrative. Fun way to get kids to read and learn the alphabet. The other thing this book does is to show the creative use of story to engage the reader.Great book.
A tiny story for each letter of the alphabet, with funny themes. Illustrations make the book.

Very fun, but more appropriate for ages 7 and up than for pre-readers.
