Pack Beta (Were Chronicles Book 11) - Plot & Excerpts
“The guards didn’t see anyone?” he asked Jacob. “No, we had two stationed close by and they never caught the scent of anyone.” The way Jacob worded his reply had Chase’s stomach knotting. Chase stood slowly, his gaze finding Angel in the small group that had assembled. Angel and her brother were the only two people that Chase had not been able to smell. They had no scent whatsoever. If their target had the same ability, there had to be a connection. Since neither Salvatore would give them more information about why they were unique, he was suspicious of what they were really getting into. Stepping away from the footprints, Chase tilted his head toward his brother. They met a little distance away from the others. With the superior hearing of the others, Chase still couldn’t say what he wanted but he needed Max to know his concerns. “I know,” Max said as he pressed his shoulder against Chase’s. Nodding his understanding, Chase would have to leave the investigation into the Salvatore’s background to his brother.
