Alrighty 3.5* actually. I really enjoyed this YA paranormal romance book. The heroine is loveable, she's witty, funny, aware that she's pretty and cute, aware that she's cheesy. I love how the author describe vampires or fairies. Reth is like a haunting ghost. Creepy, ancient, scary. His character is so strong in the book, maybe too strong than the antagonist though i'm not sure whether is he bad guy or good guy. You cant be sure about these fairies. They only think of themselves. I cant blame them. Well, more of Evelyn Greene in next book. I was pleasantly surprised by this novel. It wasn't that I didn't think I'd like the writing, because I think Kiersten White is a fab writer. I just wasn't sure if this young adult book was right for me.I was hesitant to pick it up in the first place for the same reason that when I started reading, I was worried that maybe the character's voice would be a bit too young and naïve for my liking. Evie certainly had that teen innocence about her, but she's obviously not your average teenager. She's had an unordinary upbringing that has caused her to grow up a bit faster and experience things that not a lot of people in general have been exposed to. This was a fun, fast-paced story with a lot of interesting paranormal creatures and detailing. Though it doesn't end in a cliffhanger, there are other books in the series. Since I enjoyed these characters so much, I will continue reading to see what adventures Evie gets herself into next.
