A small pounding had started earlier in the top of her head. She’d gone through three mugs of hot chocolate and now two glasses of chilled water. If she had another drink she’d float away. It felt like forever but she’d finally managed to scan almost all of the reports, notations and flow charts that had been in her quarter of Tanya’s file. She’d never had much interest in politics or the gritty details of how the government functioned. Now she knew she had no real interest for it. The amount of double talk, subterfuge and sheer amount of ass covering staggered her. “From what I can gather a lot of this is just regular political intrigue,” Zahra finally said, expressing the conclusion she’d been growing more certain of in the last half-hour or so. “Tanya seems to have done a remarkable job of highlighting who has been talking to whom, the directions of favors being exchanged and following the trail of the information that was leaked. But much of it seems fairly standard for under-the-table arrangements and not strictly treasonous activity.”
