"Pearl in The Sand" by Tessa Afshar is a wonderful book that is fiction but based on the Biblical story of Rahab. Rahab was a Canaanite harlot, but she saved the Israeli spies in Jericho. This book teaches this reader that God loves us and can forgive us our sins and use us for his purpose! I believe that we all have struggled with feelings of worth and have built walls around our hearts to protect us from rejection and hurt. I love the lesson that Salmone uses to show Rahab that she was valuable. He uses a pearl in the sand. ( hence the title). If her other books are as good as this one, any reader would be thrilled to read these stories more than once. Yes they are that good!I am giving"Pearl in The Sand" by Tessa Afshar five stars. Very interesting and captured the story well. I didn't think Debir could have spoken so much of God without being part of Israel or wanting to be at least. Also I can understand Rahab's predicament and the author explained it so well that you can feel her pain. The interesting illustration of the pearl in the sand captured it all for me. It doesn't matter where you' eu been before you met God. God doesn't love you according to your past but according to your present heart 'condition'. God sees those who love him no matter what religion they may have, he is seeking them out and one day his Salvation will be upon them just like Rahab. God is seeking that previous jewel in the sand, though dented and stained, you are not ruined and God still cherishes and loves you and can use you for his Glory.
