Pinch Hit (2012) - Plot & Excerpts

This book is about one boy who is very rich and one boy who isn't doing so well. And when Sam decided to be a stand in for Trevor who is a movie star gets picked, but then Trevor's mom shoo's him out. Not before Trevor could see him though. So Trevor gets to thinking and his friend McKenna and they think that they could be biological brothers because they look exactly alike and they are both adopted, so Trevor texted him and asked if he wanted to trade places with him Sam said yes so they because Trevor always wanted to play baseball and Sam was on a team and Trevor had everything so at a play date at McKenna's they switched. When Sam got to Trevor's house he wanted to hind his biological parents because he had the tools to find them. But he never had a dad and his mom died giving birth to him. Then it was finally Trevor's day to play a baseball game but it turned out to be the day Sam got judged to see if he was going to go to a special training center. Trevor texted Sam to get over there to play and when he did They switched in the bathroom. Sam got awarded the spot. At the end Sam and his dad went to a pool party at Trevor's. My favorite part was when Sam forgot to say Trevor's acting line and he was so flustered he nailed it. The book Pinch Hit by Tim Green was a hit as soon as I started reading it. I thought this book was worthy of five stars for several reasons, including the setup of the book, and the realistic characters.Suspense was one of the most important factors of the book, and part of the setup of how Tim Green wrote this book as part of two perspectives. Therefore, when one chapter ends in suspense, most of the book it is necessary to keep reading, because the chapters switch off from Trevor's perspective to Sam's. For example, on page 50, Sam finds the text from Trevor and is super excited, and this is how the chapter ends. " "Dad," he said, his voice brimming with excitement, "it's a text ... it's from Trevor Goldman." Then, the readers find themselves reading on to find out what happens with Sam, his story a few pages later.Secondly, these characters were also important factors of the book. These kids were about our age, and they were believable. Even though these kids' lives are nothing like mine, the stories were so believable, and I could connect these aspects to the real world. Sam’s story is so similar to many out there, and I could feel his pain. An example of real life aspects portrayed in this book would be on page 8, Sam wants to know if he can use the money he makes from being an extra to buy a new baseball mitt. “ “Can I use some of the money to buy that new Nike mitt?” ”I feel for him, because I know how wanting something and having to work for it feels; it’s happened to me many times before.Overall, I thought the book Pinch Hit by Tim Green was worthy of more than five stars, and I would definitely recommend this book. After all, Trevor and Sam are kids just like us, and almost any teen would find themselves connecting to this heartwarming story. " "That's right; we're family." (pg. 311) From the uncertainty to the heartwarming ending, the book Pinch Hit will have readers on their seats, and it is definitely a book I would recommend.
