Book Title: PlaygroundLexile: 900In a nutshell: “Butterball” is nearly invisible at his school until he beats up Maurice on the playground. Suddenly, his new status as a bully gets him more respect than being known as the nameless fat kid. Yet, becoming a bully doesn’t change Butterball’s life or make his problems go away--things only get worse.I liked this book because Butterball was an interesting character who made a lot of mistakes, which readers can relate to. For example, he thinks that by picking on other kids like Maurice and Malik, he will feel better about himself and become a more confident person. What I liked best about the book was how Butterball would talk about his problems to his social worker, Liz. I wish every kid had a person like Liz to talk to and help them with their problems. I would recommend this book to readers who like to read about kids making mistakes and getting into trouble without even meaning to because they will be able to relate to Butterball and enjoy his character. This book was pretty good. I liked because the book was written by 50 Cent. This book teaches kids that bullying verbally or physically can really change a person. For example Butterball the main character changed throughout the story once he knew how others felt when he bullied them. This book teaches you that you should be kind to everyone and not pick an odd person out and tease or mess with them. I think everyone should read this book, to learn about bullying. It may not sound fun to learn while reading but this book teaches you in a fun way. If you do not like cuss words or people who cuss then you will not want to read this book. I gave this book 3 stars because of the reasons above. You may not think of 50 Cent as being a good author, but give him a chance because he is pretty good.
