Plötzlich Zombie - So Ein Mist! (2012) - Plot & Excerpts
My 5yo son and I read this a few chapters at a time, but he lost interest halfway through and I finished it on my own. It has a few nice messages, and the characters are more complicated than I expected. However, it wasn't as funny as I thought it would be, and the action was kind of slow. I'm not sure who the target audience is, elementary or middle school, but it will take a special kid to stay through the slow development and delayed resolution to appreciate the heart-felt life lessons inside. I don't think I want to read any of the others books in the series, although the characters are likeable enough. Nathan Abercromie is in for some serious trouble when his friend's uncle performs a strange experiment on him that goes horribly wrong! Instead of removing Nathan's emotions as expected, it removes his life!Light and humorous, this book rides the coat tails of the Wimpy Kid fanbase, but with a terrific "zombie" element. It is not scary, despite it. Nathan's cast of friends bring comic relief, casting off the humor of Nathan's navigation of school and life as a zombie. It's length and subject make it an excellent suggestion for reluctant readers, fans of Wimpy Kid, zombies, and boys.
What do You think about Plötzlich Zombie - So Ein Mist! (2012)?
A book that will appeal to boys. I will be using this book for my 3rd grade bookclub.
