What do You think about Possess Me Slowly (The Shattered Series) (2014)?
As posted on The Smutty Kitty reviewed by Zen Kitty5 out of 5 LicksSince I did the first review on Ms. Joya Ryan’s Break Me Slowly, I felt it only right that I should give the second in the series a run for its money. I gotta say, I was not disappointed. This story picks up with Megan the best friend of Katelyn from the first book. She has moved to New York to make more money and get away from her cheating ex-boyfriend. Unexpectedly, she has her first one night stand with a shaggy gorgeous fella named Preston. Little does she know, this one night stand is her boss and he wants so much more than one night with her. He proposes marriage as a business relationship and to fulfill mutual needs…he needs a wife, she needs money. Simple right? Wrong! I was swept away with this tale. The chemistry between Megan and Preston was ridiculous. It was palpable and made my heart thump, my blood thrum and my body tingle…as did the hot sex scenes. Damn, that man knows how to please a woman in the sack. If only he could get it right emotionally the entire world’s problems would be solved. I’m talking world peace would occur. Hunger would end. Seriously, he needs to get his shit together. Does he? You’ll have to read to find out all the sides of Mr. Preston Strauss. There are also some fabulous surprised I hadn’t expected. Some of my favorite bits form the novel:His hot mouth closed around the soft spot of my inner thigh and he sucked hard. “Christ, you’re f***ing mouth-watering,” he growled against my skin. I was in the twilight zone, and not the kind with the hot tween vampires. No, I’m talking full-blown crazy town.Nothing was easy, and the rainbows I had been thinking would somehow shoot out of the world’s a** and glitter over my life were long gone. What was so surprising from this novel was the believability. The concept sounds ludicrous but somehow Ms. Ryan makes it work. A cold business arrangement turns blistering hot. A one night stand ends up being so much more. Megan is a character that you love to love. She’s strong, sweet, smart, sexy, but lacks sensibility. All the best “S’s!” She’s also vulnerable because of things that happened in the past that leaves her between a rock and a hard place. All puns intended here. Preston is a complete dichotomy and can also be sounded out as “dick-to-me”. He’s everything you never knew you wanted in a man. Give him a shot…I dare you!Overall, I’m not sure if I liked this one better than the first because they were so different and equally beautiful. That’s saying something. I’m so looking forward to the release of “Capture Me Slowly” in September the final book in the series. I’ll definitely be “one-clicking” that novel the moment it’s available.

Megan Riley, a strong character that I was able to relate to. Moving to the New York to start over and support for parents is hard to do. Megan is looking for a stable job that will pay the bills and while working at the international Strauss Hotel is the way for her. Being the good manager that she is, one an employee calls and says he’s going to be late she steps in and takes care of business. While tendering bar, she meets a striking man having a drink that catches her eye. Always being the good girl, she knows that she shouldn’t mess with clients of the hotel but the one time she throws caution to the wind, she gives in to the sexy, alpha male that commands her body for the night.Little did she know, the sexy one night stand is no other than John Preston Strauss, owner of the hotel. He extends an offer that she can’t resist and agrees to a marriage of three years to help him secure the upper hand when his father retires from the company. During this hot affair, she starts to care for Preston but he doesn’t want a relationship just a business deal. Preston is all man and hard to resist but when he pushes her away with his harsh words and attitude she leaves. Preston is fighting the feelings that he thought he would never have for another woman and realizes that he cares for her and damm the contract. He tracks her down to find her at the bed side of her father that has advanced dementia. There is professes he love and begs for her forgiveness.I thought the ending was a bit rushed and parts of the book were too predictable. Preston deserved to grovel a bit more from all that he put Megan thru but overall the book was good.
