Bryn turned the volume down of her phone call using a button on her steering wheel. Her mother’s voice sounded like nails on a chalkboard, and considering how nervous Bryn was right now, that didn’t help her. She glanced at herself in the rearview mirror, making sure her lipstick hadn’t smeared and that her hair was still in place after such a long drive.
