Prince Charming Doesn't Live Here (2010) - Plot & Excerpts

This is the first book of hers I read and it's not the best. I gave up on this series thinking they just aren't my thing. I read another book of hers JP recommended and found it much better. Not to be all negative nelly but my biggest complaint is that most of the female protagonist are so bitchy! They get into situations they know nothing about and instead of letting the people who DO know what's going on take care of business, they just turn into the most unlikeable, whiney nags for a while. BUT, on the flip side, she does an excellent job of having a different story line in each book. I've really be impressed with that aspect of her stories. And I'm reading them all out of order but JP said she kind of wrote them with random off shoots of stories anyways. Blah! I was bored to tears with this book. I think it is mainly due to my person disinterest and dislike of Fae stories. They just don't do anything for me. Besides that factor, I found the story quite dull. There was a decided lack of erotic content when compared to the previous novels. Danice and Mac lacked any real chemistry, in my opinion. Another thing I didn't care for was Danice herself. I found her to be an extremely annoying character. She seemed to just be plain bossy and while I understand she is an intelligent woman, being a lawyer and all, she failed to prove that to me with her actions. She seemed to just need to prove herself even when it was unnecessary and that grated on my nerves. I couldn't find the energy to care what happened with her or the case she was working to solve. For that matter, the case seemed more about detective work than something a lawyer should do and again that just didn't make sense to me.Anyway, I make allotments for long series, not all books will be fabulous. I am therefore not giving up on the series, I am starting Black Magic Woman, today.

I have never written a review before but I needed to get this off of my chest. I enjoyed the previous two books in this series but had to stop reading in the middle of this one because Danice is so ANNOYING! I understand strong, independent characters but she was just so stupid! Am I really to believe she is a top lawyer who graduated at the top of her Ivy League school?! She kept asking unnecessary questions, bringing danger to herself and Mac. It was just too unbelievable; didn't finish the book.
