Unfortunately I have read a rash of these fluffy novels lately in which the female protagonist is an absolute asshole. This is one of them. I guess authors are trying to make them "sassy" but the just come off as unlikable and someone you want to bitch slap. To be fair she did set this character up as a dick from the very beginning so it is something you know is coming - there are no surprises. But still, it wouldn't have hurt to have seen the character mellow a bit once she got more comfortable with the people who care about her. Ugh! All of these deep thought reviews about romance novels! It's like writing a critique for TMZ - it's a place where one should not delve. This book was an odd one for me because I read the older version YEARS ago. The heroine ended up with someone from the Fey kingdom, not a vampire. (Unless I'm really getting my stories confused. Always possible.) I liked the older version, so it took me a while to wrap my head around the newer version. I enjoyed it, perhaps not as much as the original, but I always quite like Christine Warren's work.
Though I found the main character mostly unlikable, the book was written well and paced well.
