An excellent follow-up story. The ending of one story and the start of another. The action is very well written and the powers displayed are well utilized. It's hard to beat the story of Bookbinder going from paper-pusher to hard-ass, but we see a diverse group pull together to fight a horrific threat. The combination of military and powers is a very good fit and much different from the average person getting powers and acting without training. Skill beats will every time. Excellent conclusion to Myke Cole's debut trilogy of contemporary military fantasy novels. The plotlines established in the first two novels of the series dovetail together well to reach a satisfactory conclusion. Though the series stands well entirely on its own, the world is rich enough that there are endless possibilities for Cole to continue exploring the setting in future books, should he choose to.
Continues the trend of strong characters making difficult decisions.
