This book.. was quite something.I liked it in the beginning and towards the end but the middle. The middle made me want to rip my hair off. So the story goes that Adam is an unfaithful peice of crap and runs off with Randi, the Other Woman. Now the sick twist is that Randi is a bitch (she made it quite obvious its all for the money) and before Adam married Marge (Margret) he cheated on her with the same whore too. So then the whore comes back, Adam leaves and Marge finds herself tumbling into a emotional hole. During the process of the book I kinda resented the characters in the beginning. All the characters, including the protagnist, except for Nina of course. Margret is way to weak and quiet in the beginning and is an emotional wreck after she finds out the good-for-nothing asshole cheats on her. It's understandable considering what she went through.. but I wanted her to break things and yell and hiss and take change but she failed to do so. Towards the end, however, I grew fond of her.Adam. Arrrrggh The son of - That asshole needs to seriously drop dead and he did. Killed himself cause of the pressure and the constant bitching of Randi. Anyways, Adam came out of the story and an evil seed already because of his crime right from the beginning. He is a horrible father too and is unbelievably weak. He has delusion thoughts of his Happy Land and constantly is 'puzzled' by the fact that his children hates him. Everyone hates him and he doesn't really understand why. (That guy is probably and crack if he doesn't.)______The middle of the book goes on about the process of Adam cheating on Marge and secretly meeting Randi and stuff and the whole thing was so infuritating I skipped it. I don't know what happened but it was unecessary anways because the story goes on without it quite fine.______Randi. Holy shit did the author make a huge bitch out of her! Randi is a slimy bitch who is a gold digger. Adam knew this yet he pines after he anyways. *sigh* Randi even admits that she came back to destory Adam's family just to get him. Sick twisted person. It's not like she was sweet and kind (obviously) but you expect more respect from a prostitute then this character. This charcter- I can't even! She constantly bitches and bad mouths everyone including Adam and his kids. That was when I sorta felt bad for him, the fool. Randi should drop dead too.. but unfortunately she doesn't_________I wasn't quite ssatisfied with the ending because no consquences were held upon her head after Adam killed himself. She simply faded from view and I was hoping for some dramatic ending. Maybe where all of Marg'e female friend come and pull off her hair like in the novellas.__________I really adored the ending. Really loved it. I won't spoil it for you so go on. Run along now I go get yourself this book.
I found a lot of this book so irritating. Adam and his selfish affair. His lack of parenting. Also, I couldn't see why things had to be quite so hard for Margaret. Such as losing her home - she had very wealthy friends - why didn't they get together and buy her house and rent it back to her? Her pride wouldn't have had to suffer as it would have been an investment for them. Also - why didn't someone (Adam, friends) take the dog instead of it going to strangers? I got tired of listening to Adam and Randi's story - so depressing and predictible. I enjoyed much more Margaret's journey.
